Ski holidays Ylläs - Skiing within the Arctic Circle!
Ylläs
Ylläs is located in the middle of a breathtaking fell landscape and has been known as a ski region since the 1930s. At 718 metres, the Ylläs fell is one of the highest mountains in Lapland and offers 53 kilometres of varied slopes. The snow conditions are excellent due to the location and attract winter sports professionals, off-piste enthusiasts and beginners to the area. Ylläs is also the venue for Finland's largest downhill race. At the foot of the mountain lie the two traditional villages of Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi, which have retained their Lappish charm. Numerous restaurants, cafés and bars can be found in both villages, on the slopes and even on the cross-country ski trails. The menus range from traditional dishes to fast food and international cuisine. Evening entertainment and music are provided by restaurants and bars as well as live performances where you can party into the night.Lapland
Lapland is Finland's northern-most and largest province, covering approx. 30% of the country's area. The majority of Lapland lies above the Arctic Circle and is shielded from the Atlantic by the Scandinavian mountains. This excellent location ensures absolute snow security. The length of the day increases rapidly from spring onwards, allowing winter sports fans to spend up to 16 hours on the piste in March and April. In addition to lively apres ski, you will find spots of absolute peace away from the piste and can enjoy your holiday away from the daily bustle.Travel Ylläs
