Ski holidays Finland
Finland is located in Scandinavia and is known for its peaceful and charming landscapes. Its nickname, "land of a thousand lakes", is no joke: approx. 10% of the country is covered by water. All the same, you won't just find seclusion here. Finland is a very modern and progressive country with a high standard of living and is at the forefront of Europe, technologically and economically speaking. Its few cities are primarily located in the southern part of the country and exhibit quite a cultural heritage. Due its the location in the far north, snow is especially guaranteed in Lapland. From November to April, the country is a favourite holiday destination for winter sports fans. Levi, Ruka and Ylläs are among the largest and most well-known of the ski areas. The varied pistes, tracks and fun parks offer just the right thing to suit all tastes. Whether snowboarder, skier or cross-country fan, all visitors will get their money's worth.
Lapland:
Lapland is the northern-most and largest of Finland's provinces and covers approx. 30% of the country's area. The majority of Lapland lies above the Arctic Circle and is shielded from the Atlantic by the Scandinavian mountains. This excellent location ensures absolute snow security. The length of the days increases rapidly in spring and allows you to spend up to 16 hours on the piste in March and April. In addition to lively après ski, you will find tranquil spots away from the pistes and resorts, allowing you to enjoy your holiday far away from the daily bustle.
