Ski area Val di Fassa-Carezza

Those who book the "Val di Fassa-Carezza" lift pass have 110 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes with 54 lifts between 1,200 and 2,950 metres above sea level in the Alba, Canazei, Campitello, Carezza, Pozza, Vigo and Nova Levante areas at their disposal. In addition to numerous freeride and deep snow areas, there are mainly intermediate slopes, while ski cracks can look forward to black pistes such as the famous "Tomba" in Ciampedie and floodlit fans will get their money's worth in Pozza.

Welschnofen's home ski area is Carezza. With innovative ideas and ingenious technology, the Eisath family has made the ski resort with its 40 kilometres of pistes a real pioneer in terms of sustainability in the Alps. The sunny, sometimes steep slopes of the Catinaccio massif are a marvellous terrain for experts, but beginners and children will also find wonderful, flat and above all wide pistes here. A highlight are the two runs "König Laurin" and "Laurin I", which together are 7.7 km long and form the König Laurin Challenge with a difference in altitude of 1,132 metres.

The "Panoramica" ski tour also connects the Buffaure ski area with that of Alba di Canazei on the Ciampac. The famous Sella Ronda can also be easily reached from the Val di Fassa-Carezza ski area. The 40-kilometre day tour on skis around the Sella massif is an absolute must for every ski fan! Along the slopes, numerous mountain huts, the Rifugi, invite you to sunbathe and feast.

And that's not all: with the Dolomiti Superski lift pass (for a fee) you can discover not only the Sellaronda, but also 1,200 km of pistes and 450 lifts in 12 ski areas!

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Night skiing Welschnofen

There are some ski resorts in Italy that light up their pistes in the evening, inviting you to ski by floodlight. One of these night skiing areas is Val di Fassa-Carezza, where the 1.6 km long Aloch piste in the Pozza di Fassa ski stadium is floodlit for night skiing every Wednesday and Friday from 7.15:00 to 13:00. Numerous ski and snowboard races have already been held on this challenging piste. It is therefore more suitable for experts, even in the dark. With a valid multi-day lift pass (Val di Fassa-Carezza, Dolomiti Super Ski or Valle Silver), night skiing is free of charge. Otherwise, the night lift pass can be purchased on site.

Après ski Welschnofen

At the foot of the Catinaccio/Rosengarten in Nova Levante/Welschnofen, the classic après-ski with loud music and cool drinks is a little more sedate. However, this does not mean that there are no umbrella bars or similar in the Carezza ski area. For example, after a long day of skiing, winter sports enthusiasts can stop off at Birdie's Après-Ski Schirm on the Carezza Pass or at the Antermont umbrella bar, and the Hennenstall at the Hubertusbahn lift is also a fun place to be. There are also numerous mountain huts along the slopes, which, like the restaurants and inns in the village centre, serve modern, international cuisine as well as many South Tyrolean specialities.

Winter sports enthusiasts who don't want to be pampered in the spa oases of the accommodation establishments after skiing, but want to stay out in the fresh winter air, can of course also do so in Nova Levante/Welschnofen. In addition to numerous winter hiking trails and snowshoe tours around the village, the 1.2 km long Hubertus toboggan run on Lake Carezza awaits in the ski area. And if that's not enough, you can take the car or bus to Bolzano, 21 km away, where cinemas, bars, clubs and other restaurants await alongside a wide range of cultural activities.

Snowpark: Carezza-Snowpark Welschnofen

The Val di Fassa-Carezza ski area is a true paradise for freestylers. There are a total of four fun parks to choose from here. In Carezza, Welschnofen's local ski area, the Carreza snow park can be reached quickly using the modern lifts. On the Tschein piste, a "bouncy castle for free spirits" awaits with a total of three lines: the Family Fun Line for beginners, the Easy Line for advanced riders and the Medium Line for pros. The latter is not only peppered with metre-high kickers, but also has a 9-metre-long steel tube - a DFD tank - for sliding that is unrivalled in South Tyrol!

From Pozza, freestylers can also quickly reach the Buffaure Park with the Pozza-Buffare cable car, where they can let off steam on various boxes, rails, tanks, kickers and a fun tube against the backdrop of the Catinaccio group. In the centre of the Belvedere ski area, there is also the Dolomiti Park with various kicker lines for beginners, advanced and pros, a jibbing area with boxes, rails and corners, a slope-style course and a big airbag. And last but not least, you can also hone your tricks at the Christomannos Snowpark on the Carezza Pass.
