Ski area 3 Zinnen Dolomiten
With its approx. 86 km, the Helm/Stiergarten/Rotwand/Kreuzbergpass ski area offers the largest selection of pistes. The ski area can be reached from both Sesto and Vierschach. Below the rock faces of Rotwandspitze you can find especially challenging pistes, such as e.g. "Holzriese 2", which is one of the steepest pistes in Italy. It has a decline of 7 %, and passes 300 m in altitude on a length of 700 m. On Rotwand meadows, everybody can test their speed limit on a racing piste with time measurement. In San Candido, in the Haunold ski area, you can look forward to 12 km of piste. If you want to ski around the entire valley, you should dare the "Giro Delle Cime", the Sesto Domolmites round course. The day tour leads over five mountains and approx. 30 km of pistes, passing altogether approx. 9,700 m in altitude.
Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy
To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.Night skiing Sesto
Many ski areas in Italy offer pistes that open for skiing by night time on selected dates. Like this, skiing fun is extended to after dusk. The 3 Zinnen Dolomiten ski area is one of the night ski areas that offer night ski pistes. Near Sesto, you can participate in night skiing every Tuesday and Friday from 19:00 - 22:00 at Haunold. The approx. 3 km piste is illuminated during the extended opening hours for night skiers. Apart from night skiing, you can also go night tobogganing at Haunold. After you have had your night-time skiing fun, you can stop in the cosy Riese-Haunold hut in order to end the day.Après ski Sesto
Everybody who wants to stay active after skiing all day can look forward to ice skating, curling as well as several toboggan runs in and around Sesto. Alternatively, you can let off steam in the tennis hall, and then relax your muscles in the public indoor pool.
Snowpark: Kids Skicross Park Sesto
Freestylers get their money's worth at the Kids Skicross Park in the Haunold ski area. Now even amateurs can try their hand on the legendary ski cross world cup slope. It features 6 steep turns, 12 waves and 4 kickers.
The family programme has recently been rounded off with two new Family Funslopes with banked turns, waves, snow tunnels, bridges and snails. These are located on the "Rotwand" and "Helm" ski mountains.
