Ski area Reinswald

Compact: this is probably the best way to describe the Reinswald ski area. In the rear Sarntal valley, around 30 kilometres from Bolzano, a total of 22 kilometres of pistes await on the western flank of the Sattele (2,460 m). With 17 kilometres of red pistes, including two long forest runs, the ski area is more suitable for experts. In addition to a practice slope on the outskirts of Reinswald, the blue pistes, which are suitable for beginners and families with children, are located at the top station of the gondola lift. From there, a modern 4-seater chairlift also takes you to the start of the "Jochpiste" European Cup run, which is classified as black with a gradient of 58 per cent and is therefore a real challenge for experienced skiers.

The Reinswald ski area also has its own children's ski school for young skiers who still want to prove themselves on the piste. Incidentally, all winter sports enthusiasts can do without their own car when travelling here, as the ski bus from Bolzano or Sarentino regularly runs directly to Reinswald, especially in winter.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Après ski Sarntal

Of course, classic après-ski also awaits all winter sports fans in the Sarntal Valley. In Sarnthein and at the valley station in Reinswald, traditional bars await with loud music from the speakers and plenty of cool drinks. In the ski area itself, there are also four ski huts with sun terraces where you can enjoy the South Tyrolean winter sun with local specialities. And after a long day on the slopes, a rich leisure programme also awaits you.

Winter hikers will find three perfectly groomed winter hiking trails in the forests around the ski area and anyone who likes a fast ride - big or small - should not miss the 4.5 km long toboggan run from the Reinswald mountain station to the valley station. At the Sarnthein ice skating centre, you can try your hand at curling or ice hockey or simply enjoy a leisurely skate. And if the winter weather permits, you can also do this on the frozen Lake Durnholzer See.

Shopping fans can relax while strolling through the centre of Bolzano and spa enthusiasts can pamper themselves with treatments, massages or in the saunas of selected accommodation.

Snowpark: Meran 2000 Sarntal

Unfortunately, the Reinswald ski area does not have its own snow park. However, the next hotspot for freestyle fans is not far away - just 50 kilometres or just under an hour's drive from the Sarntal Valley, to be precise: Because the Merano 2000 ski area above the famous South Tyrolean spa town also has a snow park of the same name to offer. With the Easy Line in the upper section and the Medium Line in the lower section, the area offers the right terrain for all ability levels. There are jumps, slides and tables everywhere, where freestylers can show off their best tricks in the "Merano 2000" snow park.

For advanced riders, there are also two kickers that allow particularly long jumps. From here, it's just a few steps to the chill-out zone, where you can relax or chat to other freestylers about the latest trends. The snow park is located on the St. Oswald piste right next to the Piffing chairlift.
