Ski holidays Moena – The enchanting fairy of the Dolomites!

Moena

The sunny resort of Moena is the largest resort in the Fassatal, with a total of 2,680 residents. Located right at the entrance of the valley, at about 1,184 m, Moena is also known as the "Gate to the Fassatal." However, its actual nickname is the "fairy of the Dolomites," an allusion to the fantastic tales of timeless magic that intertwine with the village.

The highly-held traditions and expansive history of the mountain village is noticeable in further aspects- the locals speak the unique dialect of Ladin. The old parish church, St. Vigil, with its godly steeple, ties the village's Medieval scenery together. Paintings and frescoes from the artist Valentino Rovisi, the most famous resident to hail from the village, are omnipresent. The deeply-rooted culture and long-lasting traditions are also reflected through the Ladin cuisine. Several culinary festivals with the tasting of regional specialities take place here. For example, Moena is known for its Puzzone di Moena, a hearty mountain cheese.

Moena is surrounded by a gorgeous, mountainous panorama with the Rosengarten (3,004 m), the Latemar group (2,842 m), the Rotwand and the majestic peaks of the Pala group (3,192 m). In this fantastic natural setting, life in Moena is just as friendly to the environment as it is its guests: the centre is traffic-free and the leisure activities are designed mostly for families with children.

Val di Fassa

Val di Fassa is located in the southwest part of the Dolomites in Trentino and borders South Tyrol. The idyllic valley is dominated by some of the most famous Dolomite peaks, such as the Catinaccio group (3,004 m), the Langkofel (3,181 m), the mighty Sella group and the impressive Marmolada glacier (3,342 m). The small Avisio river meanders through the valley where three languages are spoken (German, Italian, Ladin) and passes many famous resorts.

With approx. 144 km of piste and 59 lifts, it is one of the largest ski areas in the Dolomiti-Superski union and furthermore offers a connection to the world-renowned Sella Ronda. Val di Fassa, where tourism is the biggest source of income, offers its guests, alongside a first class ski area, plenty to see and do such as diverse leisure activities encompassing sport and relaxation, tradition and culture, hospitality and obviously the great Trentino cuisine.
