Ski area Espace San Bernardo

The ski area Espace San Bernado connects La Thuile and the neighbouring La Rosière in France and is home to a total of 150 kilometres of piste and 39 ski lifts. The 61 blue, 74 red and 15 black pistes are diverse and ensure absolute fun on the slopes. Beginners can rejoice with the easier pistes and more advanced skiers and freeriders have an equally wide range on offer: two slalom stadiums, a snowpark, two fun-cross areas, as well as a safe freeride zone. As a result of the consistent weather at this location, winter sports are usually possible into the late spring - over 400 snow canons also contribute to snow security.

The highest point in the ski area, at a height of approx. 2,650 metres, offers a breath-taking 360° view of the surrounding mountain scenery. Among the highlights of the ski area is the copious deep snow, the long valley runs and the chance to go heliskiing. Adventure lovers can fly to untouched regions of the Alps with a helicopter and prepare for spectacular off-piste runs. In addition, another vast area that is suitable for snow-kiting belongs to La Thuile. Here ski fans can "surf" freely and safely. Fun is guaranteed!

For lift passes of 6 days or more, there is also the possibility of using the lifts in all of the other ski areas in the Aosta Valley (excluding Zermatt and Monterosaski) for 2 days.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Après ski La Thuile

After a long day of skiing, La Thuile is well-suited for relaxation and restful après ski. Those who like to let the evenings end with a few drinks are still well looked after in the "La Cage Aux Folles" pub. All the large sporting events of the season that can be followed with a good selection of wine and beer are carried over to this location. The "Le Coq Maf" is located in the centre of La Thuile and, with enticing cocktail happy hours, is also spot for big sporting events. Every holiday maker in La Thuile should experience one really Italian tradition at least once: the Coppa dell'amicizia is a wooden vessel with ten nozzles, which is filled with coffee and grappa and passed on to the next person after each sip. The so-called "friendship cup" can be found in "Angela's Café", among others.

If you want to explore the unspoiled landscape in the footsteps of the ancient miners, snow shoe hikes would be the best option. Starting in La Thuile, a few routes of various difficulty levels and lengths lead through woods and little villages, up to the shafts of the former coal and silver mines.

The Pré-Saint-Didier SPA around 8 km away is an inviting place to relax, with its hot springs, and also offers an impressive panorama view of Mont Blanc. The comprehensive spa and wellness offers make for a perfect balance after a demanding day on the pistes.

Snowpark: Snowpark Poletta La Thuile

The snowpark "Poletta" is located on the French side of La Rosière near to the La Poletta tow lift. A row of rails and kickers of different difficulty levels ensure a great amount of fun. In addition, a large Air Bag makes learning new tricks easier.

The boardercross zone is located near the Du Fort chair lift and in the Snowcross-Parcour, safe freeriding is guaranteed. Adrenaline junkies can really get their money's worth.
