Ski area Gitschberg Jochtal-Brixen
The neighbouring Gitschberg-Jochtal ski area has 16 lifts and almost 55 km of pistes. In addition, three ski schools, one of which has been awarded the golden seal of approval for children's ski schools, as well as the Kinderland in Meransen, the Kinderwelt at the Nesselbahn and the Gimmy Fun Ride in Jochtal ensure fantastic family friendliness. There is also a 360° panoramic platform on the Gitschberg, which offers a fantastic view of the main Alpine ridge, the Zillertal, Stubai and Ötztal Alps and up to 500 Dolomite peaks.
The upgrade to the "Dolomiti Superski" lift pass also allows you to ski in 12 ski areas with a total of around 1,200 kilometres of pistes (see ski region).
Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy
To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.Après ski Velturno
In Velturno's sourrounding areas, several mountain pastures, such as the Villanderer Alm, the Kühberg or the Jochalm offer a total of eight natural toboggan runs to which it is easy to ascend for families with children. There are three different lengths which are mostly easy and huts along the way invite for a break.
If you prefer to explore the winter landscape on foot, the Velturno and Latzfonser Alm offer three marked snowshoe hiking tracks. The routes are marked in different colours and measure between 9 and 15 km. But the Eisacktal can also be explored without snow shoes - several routes and circuits lead through mountains and valley all around the Völlnösser Alm, Rosskopf Alm, etc.
