Ski holidays Falcade – ski paradise in the middle of the Dolomites

Falcade

The small village of Falcade is located in the 20 km long valley "Valle del Biois" In the Italian region of Veneto. About 2,000 inhabitants live here at an altitude of 1,165 m. Falcade is located directly on the river Biois. Holidaymakers enjoy wonderful walks in the breathtaking nature of the Dolomites in northern Italy. To the south of Falcade is the majestic Pala group and to the north the rocky massifs of the Marmolada group. The Marmolada mountain is 3,343 m high and therefore the highest mountain of the Dolomites. The village of Falcade has much more to offer beyond just its fantastic location in amongst beautiful natural surroundings. Numerous chalets invite you in to enjoy a cosy meal with a view of the surrounding mountain landscape. There are also over 300 "Tabía" in the Falcade region. These historical barns with haylofts give Falcade a very special charm. Culture lovers should plan a visit to the Augusto Murer Museum as well as to the new parish church in the municipality. Falcade is particularly suitable for skiers and winter sports enthusiasts, as the valley station of the Molino Le Buse gondola lift is right in the village, bringing snow lovers to the "Alpe Lusia - San Pellegrino" ski area. Skiers and snowboarders can expect almost 100 kilometres of pistes here. Cross-country skiing lovers will also find what they are looking for in Falcade. Kilometres of well-prepared cross-country trails, with a length of approx. 10 km in Falcade or around 50 km in the region, run through the surrounding region and allow tours through the natural landscape.

Valle del Biois

The Valle del Biois stretches over 20 km from the San Pellegrino pass to the Cencinghe Agordino, and belongs to the most beautiful valleys in the Dolomites. The Valle del Biois is made up of the resorts of Falcade, Vallada Agordino, Cencenighe Agordino and Canale d'Agordo. Surrounded by the Civetta, Marmolada, Focobon group, Pala group and the Cime d'Auta, the region of the Belluno Dolomites is attractive all year round and is an ideal place to seek relaxation. Alongside skiing, there are numerous leisure activities, such as snow-tubing, snow shoe hikes, ice climbing, torchlight processions and diverse evening events, are on offer.

The resort of Falcade is knows for its numerous Tabià. The barn-like houses with their hay lofts provide the resort with a special flair. Additionally, directly at the centre of Falcade the lift systems that take you up to the ski area Trevalli are available to use.

Trevalli consists of the areas Passo San Pellegrino, Alpe Luisa and Falcade and is a part of the ski area Dolomiti Superski. It offers winter sports fans 100 km of pistes, 27 lifts systems and artificial snow-making facilities on all slopes. Ski tours are also important here: the "Skitour delle Emozioni" impresses not only lovers, but also other winter sports fans.
