Ski area Gitschberg Jochtal-Brixen
The Gitschberg-Jochtal ski area offers a fantastic experience for winter sports enthusiasts with its 55 kilometres of pistes and 15 lifts. Particularly noteworthy is the newly opened Steinermandl chairlift, which opened in 2024. The three ski schools, including one with the golden seal of approval for children's ski schools, guarantee excellent supervision for all age groups. Families will find special attractions such as the Gimmy Fun Ride and the Steinermandl Fun Zone in Jochtal. Another highlight is the Skimovie, which records your descent and allows you to keep track of your time - ideal for anyone who wants to record their run! An impressive 360° panoramic platform awaits you on the Gitschberg, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the main Alpine ridge as well as the Zillertal, Stubai and Ötztal Alps. You can also admire up to 500 Dolomite peaks. This view is an unforgettable experience and makes the Gitschberg the perfect place for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts!
The town's local mountain, the Plose, rises just 7 km from Brixen, where you can ski at altitudes of 1,060 to 2,505 metres and enjoy breathtaking views of the Dolomites. The clearly laid out ski area with a total of 7 lifts, including the Plose gondola lift, which opened in summer 2023, offers over 40 kilometres of pistes and is ideal for families. Children can let off steam on the practice slope at the Randötschlift or in the Kinderland, while adults can let off steam on the Trametsch, one of the longest groomed runs in South Tyrol. This impressive run is 9 km long and covers more than 1,400 metres of altitude difference. In addition to fantastic pistes and rustic hut magic, Plose also offers plenty of fun for winter sports enthusiasts. Speed skiers can measure their speed at the Plose Speed Check - the measuring facility is located directly opposite the Schönboden lift mountain station.
With the "Gitschberg Jochtal-Brixen" lift pass, you also have the opportunity to use the T-bar lifts in Terenten, Villnöss, Lüsen and Feldthurns, while the upgrade to the "Dolomiti Superski" lift pass also allows you to ski in 12 ski areas with a total of around 1,200 kilometres of pistes (see ski region).
Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy
To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.Après ski Bressanone
Winter hikes and guided snowshoe hikes provide active alternatives to skiing. Tobogganing enthusiasts will also get their money's worth: the RudiRun 4.0 toboggan run runs over 4 km to the middle station of the Plose gondola lift, while the 9 km RudiRun 9.0 natural toboggan run even extends to the valley station. The toboggan run on the Gitschberg, the Brimi Winter Run, is one of the longest in South Tyrol at 6.75 kilometres and promises plenty of fun for the whole family. It starts at the Nesselhütte, directly at the mountain station of the Berg-Nesselbahn cable car, and winds its way to Meransen. Nothing stands in the way of tobogganing fun in Jochtal either! The Schilling cable car takes you to the piste of the same name, along the side of which is a picturesque natural toboggan run. This approximately one kilometre long run offers a difference in altitude of 152 metres, providing plenty of fun and action. Look forward to fast-paced tobogganing fun in the middle of a fantastic winter landscape! Another highlight for young and old is the Plosebob. Safely positioned in closed bobsleighs, you whizz downhill on a rail-guided track and cover 147 metres in altitude in 6 minutes. Rapid curves guarantee the desired adrenaline rush.
