Cross-country Wurzbach
The Thuringian Forest is a real paradise for all cross-country skiers. The famous Rennsteig (long-distance ski hiking trail) alone offers a total 142 km of trails, which connects the individual cross-country areas with each other and hence forms a huge networks with trails for all levels of skill. In the entire region, there is an incredible total of 1,600 km of trails to be found.
All around Wurzbach there are approx. 30 km of mainly intermediate trails, which are a real treat for all those skiers with a bit of experience. The "Rodach" trail is especially recommendable, as it leads 11 km through beautiful forests and a tight valley past a sleet quarry. Access to this trail is located in Titschendorf. A pretty alternative is the "Teichmühle" trail, which runs along a similar route over approx. 10 km. At the ski lift Wurzbach begins the 7 km long track to the Altvater towes on the Wetzstein (793 m). Due to the incline along the way, this trail is more recommendable for experienced skier. The high-altitude trail is approx. 6 km long, hence the shortest of the prepared routes. For skating style, there is a 4 km long trail available.
