Ski holidays Oberaudorf – in beautiful of Upper Bavaria!
Oberaudorf
Right down, in the South-East of Germany, in the Bavarian Lower Alps, lies the small village Oberaudorf. It nearly borders with Austria and therefore also with the Kaiser Mountains. There region is hence also called "Kaiser-Region". From Oberaudorf you can enjoy a unique Alpine panorama view of the Zahmer Kaiser and the Wilder Kaiser. As is characteristic for a Bavarian Alpine village, it not only offers a magnificent panorama of the surrounding mountains, but also a pretty, historic village centre with various catholic churches to admire. All around the small resort Oberaudorf, there are many landmarks to discover: the Auerburg ruins from the 12th century, the Urfahrn castle, or the Monastery Reisach, which is located on a rock plateau, just above the resort (at 543 m). The historic guest house "Weber an der Wand" shows the beginning of tourism in the village. Oberaudorf is by the way, one of the most important holiday resorts in the Bavarian Inn Valley.Skiing for families starts directly in Oberaudorf on the local mountain Hocheck, or in the nearby located ski area Zahmer Kaiser. Only a few kilometres west from Oberaudorf is the access point for the Sudelfeld. The largest ski area of the region, the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, is easily accessible via Kufstein.
Upper Bavaria
It is one of the most popular holiday regions in Germany - and for good reason. Upper Bavaria is the country of magnificent castles, secluded lakes, snow-covered peaks and interesting cities. World-famous sights can be found here one after the other – from the fairytale castles of King Ludwig II via the region's capital Munich, right up to countless beautiful natural sights.Upper Bavaria (so called due to relative elevation) is located directly on the border to Austria and therefore is also a great place to go for activity seekers. In the Tölzer Land you can explore the home of the ski stars Hilde Gerg and Martina Ertl, who started their skiing career here. Further, the lower Alpine area with the Chiemsee lake (Germany's second largest continental lake) offers great winter sports conditions.
