Ski holidays Saas-Almagell - the lovely family resort!
Saas-Almagell
The run through the Saas Valley, with its deep ravines and steep mountain slopes, is very impressive. The most south-eastern district of the Saas Valley is the idyllic family resort of Saas-Almagell, which has maintained it's typical Valais mountain village charm up until today. Due to its altitude at 1,600 m, the snow conditions are ideal. You can start into the ski area of Saas-Almagell with 15.5 km of piste directly from the resort. From the close-by resort of Saas-Fee you can take one of various gondolas to access the glacier ski area. At 3,500 m, at the Mittelallalin, the world's highest rotating restaurant, called "Allalin", awaits its guests with an impressive panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. Just one floor below you will find the entry to the 5,000 m² ice pavilion, which is held at a steady temperature of -1°C and offers an impressive insight into the fascinating world of the thousands of years of existence of the Fee Glacier. After a day's skiing you will find endless possibilities to enjoy yourself in Saas-Almagell: Open-air bars with sun chairs closed to the pistes, but also traditional restaurants in the resort centre, as well as a lively night life.
Saastal
Framed by 18 four-thousand-metre peaks, the panorama of the Saas Valley is absolutely stunning! The lifts reach up to 3,573 m and open up a panorama of pistes with 146 km of all levels of difficulty. The famous "Metro Alpin", the highest underground funicular in the world, takes you under the glacier to the Mittelallalin, where a magnificent mountain backdrop awaits you. The ski area is also extremely attractive for international guests, as the Allalin Race, for example, takes place here. It is held at the end of the season and is the longest downhill race in the world, from 3,573 m down to the village at 1,800 m!The four villages at the foot of the pistes are well connected by bus so that you can make the most of your ski day. Each village has its own flair: there are family-friendly and down-to-earth villages with cosy Valais chalet-style houses, or villages characterised by lively après-ski. You will find variety here in any case!
