Ski holidays Pontresina - on the sunny side!

Pontresina (St. Moritz)

Both residents and guests of Pontresina tend to look upwards again and again - even experienced Alpinists are amazed by the view of the surrounding peaks, which are the highest in the Eastern Alps. The dreamy village has 2,00 inhabitants is situated on an altitude of 1,805 m and is surrounded by the impressive mountain chain around Piz Bernina, which is the highest peak in Engadin at a height of 4,049 m. The health resort has turned out to be a top destination of alpinists - both in summer and winter. Sheltered from the wind, guests profit from the Engadin climate, and enjoy a lot of sun and a high snow-surety.

Pontresina is an ideal starting point to explore the surrounding - and partly legendary - ski areas in Oberengadin. Winter sports fans also appreciate the historically developed mountain village because of its peace and the joy for their senses. Pontresina is known for spa treatments and the large offer for gourmets in star honoured restaurants or cosy, Arven wood parlours. Thanks to the close proximity to Italy, gourmets can enjoy both Bündner specialities and mediterranean delicacies.

Engadin

The sun-spoilt Engadin Upper Valley lies in the Graubünden canton. The region is separated into Upper Engadine and Lower Engadine, Upper Engadine being really impressive with its gorgeous landscape filled with lakes, forests and breathtaking glaciers. "Piz Bernina" is the only 4,000 m mountain in the eastern Alps. It is very impressive and, along with the majestic Morteratsch glacier, is located in Engadin. The region is not just the fount of "white winter holidays", but also the River Inn. The upper valley astonishes constantly with contrasts, which really distinguishes the famous resort of St. Moritz. St. Moritz is an annual destination for high society. In addition to modern and luxurious architecture, one can find many rustic farms and old Romanesque churches in the rest of Engadin.
