Nestled in the snow-covered mountain scenery, Sarnen is situated at 473 m on the Sarnen Lake. The main resort of the Swiss canton Obwalden, with its numerous ski areas such as Melchsee-Frutt, Engelberg or Meiringen-Hasliberg, is an ideal starting point for winter sports fans. The well maintained, historical 18th century houses in the historical city centre contribute to the resort's traditional and cosy atmosphere. Sarnen has a small-town character due to diverse shops, a large selection of restaurants and bars and numerous sports possibilities. Kerns, the holiday region's main resort, is situated on a sunny high plateau and consists of several districts, including the popular spa resort Melchtal (890 m). It offers the perfect entry into the ski area with the gondola.

The wonderful Melchsee-Frutt winter sports region is located in the Swiss canton Obwalden, near the Bernese Oberland boarder. Thanks to its central location, Melchsee-Frutt is easy to reach. This particularly multi-faceted and snow-sure holiday region is situated at altitudes from 1,080 m - 2,160 m and offers winter sports fans just the right thing. Whether beginner or expert, everyone can burn off steam on the excellently prepared pistes. The region doesn't just excite skiers and snowboarders. Guests can explore the beautiful, snowy landscape on a winter hike or breathe in the fresh mountain air while tobogganing. The cosy lodges and restaurants spoil your taste buds with national treats such as cheese fondue, raclette or Zurich "geschnetzeltem".
