Ski holidays Starý Smokovec – winter sports tradition in the High Tatras!
Starý Smokovec
The Slowakian village Starý Smokovec is the oldest tourist recreational centre in the High Tatras. The townscape is characterised by traditional architecture - built in 1904, the Grandhotel Starý Smokovec with its onion domes and balconies is the most splendid building in the resort. The cosy ski village is situated below the mighty Slavkovský štit mountain peak (2,452 m) where you can find the small but really beautiful ski centre Starý Smokovec. If you like hiking, you can look forward to many marked hiking paths and mountain paths around Starý Smokovec, giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding winter landscapes. A 2.5 km long toboggan run is also located in the ski area and can be reached easily with the mountain railway. Here you can have fun tobogganing until dusk - the run is flood-lit in the evening.
High Tatras
The High Tatras is the oldest holiday region in Slovakia and is located in the northern part of the country, on the border with Poland. It is the highest mountain chain in Slovakia with a total of 25 peaks over 2,600 m and, with respect to its, dimensions, the smallest mountain chain in Europe. The peak of the pyramid form Lomnický štít, the second highest mountain in High Tatras (at 2,634 m in height) offers a special overview of the wonderful high mountain landscape. In Slovakia’s oldest national park there are 15 small communities with a total of seven ski centres. A visit to Europe’s smallest mountain chain in High Tatras is definitely worthwhile, as it offers an alpine feel on a smaller scale and with a less hectic pace and lower prices.Travel Starý Smokovec
