Its embedded in the rugged, varied landscape between the Monte Pelmo (3,168 m) and the Monte Civetta (3,220 m). This unparalleled mountain landscape, with its striking mountain ranges and jagged steep faces, serves as one of the particular instances of beauty in the Belluno Dolomites and the UNESCO world heritage site. The main resort in the valley is Forno di Zoldo (848 m), with 2,300 inhabitants. More information about the history of iron manufacturing can be found in the local Museum of Iron and Nail. The tourist centre for winter sports fans is located in Zoldo Alto, which lies further back in the valley at an altitude of 1,177 m. The entry point to the ski area Civetta, the largest ski area in the Veneto region with 80 km of piste, is located in the district of Zoldo-Pecol.
Alongside its scenic, sporty and cultural charms, the Val di Zoldo is also famous for its ice cream. The handmade "Gelato artigianale", the mother of all ice cream, comes from Zoldo.
