Only few kilometres East of the South Tyrolean state capital Bolzano stretches the Karneid (Italian: Cornedo) all the way down to the Eggental. The municipality Karneid consists of several smaller parishes, one of which is Kardaun im Bozener Talkessel, where the council seat as well as the town hall are located. Name giver of the town is Karneid Castle which stands on a steep rock hill watching over the villages. Its great position embedded in the Southern Dolomites provides Karneid with a beautiful landscape from the district Gummer to the holiday region Rosengarten-Latemar. Only a few minutes drive separate Kardaun or Karneid from the town Bolzano and quick access to the great ski areas is also given. Karneid itself has a Mediterranean climate due to its favourable position, so you have the perfect combination of great snow conditions and sun. Skiing in the Skicenter Latemar-Obereggen, excursions to the astronomical observatory, winter hikes and toboggan fun make for a great, diverse ski holiday in Karneid.

Val d’Ega
