Ski holidays Schöneck - Alpine skiing fun in the Vogtland!

Schöneck

Schöneck is located in the heart of the nature park "Erzgebirge/Vogtland", at an altitude between 700 and 800 m. From the view point "Alter Söll" (734 m) a wonderful panorama view opens up over the Upper Vogtland, reaching from the Elster Mountains and Elster Valley right up to the Fichtel Mountains and the Thuringian Forest. Around 1900 already, the first Schöneck ski jump championships took place in this area. Ski clubs from entire Saxony participated in the Alpine races and cross-country tournaments. Schöneck has increased its influence as a winter sports centre throughout the years and due to the good snow-conditions this development should continue in future.

Today, the resort is known as one of the modern ski centres in this area, offering its guests everything that is necessary for a successful and adventurous ski winter holiday. Besides others things, the first certified, family-friendly ski area of Saxony, the "Skiwelt Schöneck" can be found here, which is especially suited for beginners.

Vogtland

The Vogtland is a region between the federal states of Saxony, Thuringia and Bavaria in Germany, and the Egerland in the Czech Republic. The most popular travel region of the Vogtland, the so called Musikwinkel (music corner), is home to some resort which can look back on a long tradition of winter sports and hence are know therefore. For example, the Vogtland Arena is the most modern giant ski jumping complex in Europe - an impressive piece of architecture and status quo for visionary sports architecture in general. The Musikwinkel is not only magnificent winter sports region, but also, as the name indicates, a place of music. The tradition of instrument building has been upheld in the 120 local crafts houses for as long 350 years.
