Ski area Mittenwald

The Kranzberg - Mittenwald ski area in the Bavarian Alps is an ideal destination for families and leisure skiers in winter. At an altitude of 980 to 1,350 metres, there are a total of 15 kilometres of pistes, most of which are divided into easy (6 km) and medium-difficulty (7 km) runs. From the mountain station at Hoher Kranzberg (1,391 m), a 2 km black piste for experts winds its way down into the valley. The same applies to the 2 km of ski routes, which are best explored with a local mountain guide or in a group. The ski area is served by seven lifts, including a modern chairlift.

A highlight for families in the Kranzberg - Mittenwald ski area is Bruno's children's ski park, which has been specially designed for the youngest skiers. Here, children can safely gain their first experience on skis under the guidance of local ski instructors. And winter sports enthusiasts are also well catered for, whether during or after a long day of skiing, with numerous places to stop for refreshments in the ski area. Huts and inns on the edge of the slopes with regional culinary specialities invite you to take a well-earned break against an impressive mountain backdrop.

With the "Top Snow Card" as an included lift pass, not only the Mittenwald pistes remain open here. Skiers and snowboarders have a total of 215 kilometres of pistes at their disposal, including in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and on the Austrian side in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, which are served by 87 lifts and at an altitude of 732 to 2,720 m (see ski region).

Night skiing Mittenwald

If you still want to hit the slopes after dark, you can do so in the Kranzberg - Mittenwald ski area. The blue run at Luttensee (1,058 m) is equipped with a floodlight system, which illuminates the piste and drag lift on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:30 to 21:30 during the ski season.

Après ski Mittenwald

A proper après-ski is of course also possible in the Kranzberg - Mittenwald ski area. Either in the pubs and bars in the village itself, in the huts on the slopes or in the classic way in an umbrella bar at the valley station. The first place to go for loud music, cool drinks and a good atmosphere in Mittenwald is "Peppi's Schiglu" between Kinderland and Luttensee. Winter sports enthusiasts who want to end the day in a more relaxed atmosphere are in good hands in the restaurants in the village, which offer regional and international cuisine. Pure partying is also the order of the day in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where after a 30-minute journey (26 km from Mittenwald) there are several clubs and other leisure facilities such as cinemas.

The ski resort itself, on the other hand, is a lot faster, with a 1.5 km long natural toboggan run that sledging fans can "experience" to their heart's content. But it can also be more relaxed, literally. After all, there are not only cross-country ski trails to discover around the village, but also kilometres of winter hiking trails with views of the Karwendel mountain range. And if you want to relax a little more, treat yourself to a spa treatment or a sauna session in one of the well-equipped accommodations after a leisurely stroll through Mittenwald's old town.
