Miesbach is located at an altitude of 688 m in Upper Bavaria and the district capital of the region north of the lake Schliersee. The small town has a lot to offer in regards to culture and sports. In winter active guests will find many things to do in the alpine world around Miesbach. The town is the ideal starting point for hikes that offer a great view over the Mangfall Mountains. The alpine region Spitzingsee-Tegernsee is located in Upper Bavaria approx. 1 km away form the federal state capital Munich. The viewpoint tower of the Taubenberg mountain offers a view of the pristine nature and the extensive ski area Spitzingsee-Tegernsee. Cross-country skiers will get their money's worth on the approx. 100 km of tracks, some of which are even illuminated at night.
