Ski holidays Masserberg – winter sports paradise at the Rennsteig!
Masserberg
Located in the Western Thuringian forest, in the charming Rennsteigarea, lies the tranquil Masserberg. As health resort it is a popular tourist destination for those who are in search for a quiet and healthy holiday, but also an ideal starting point for any form of winter sports. The classical Thuringian slate houses, huge parks and modern resort facilities shape the location.Directly besides Masserberg runs the famous Rennsteig, Germany's most popular long-distance hiking trail. The starting point for hiking or cross-country skiing here is convenient. A tour to the observation tower directly at the Rennsteig is worth the way up not least because of the great view. To the wide Masserberg belong the local districts Einsiedel, Fehrenbach, Schnett and Heubach. In the latter you will find with the Skiarea Heubach a fine ski area that is popular with families and, thanks to an awesome funpark, also with snowboarders.
Thuringian Forest
In the heart of Germany lies the Thuringian Forest, a largest forested and hilly area in the federal state of Thuringia. The approx. 150 m long and 35 km wide terrain around the Rennsteig is ideal for a short break and some easy skiing. Wonderful nature, clear air and beautiful winter landscapes are waiting here for you, in the western part of the area, near Neustadt. Let yourself be inspired by the pretty castles and fortresses and wander on the paths of ancient poets - the German masters of literature, Goethe and Schiller, both spent time in this region.
