Ski area La Forêt Blanche
With 75 green and blue, 90 red and 20 black kilometres of slopes, the ski area is particularly suitable for families and beginners. The sections around Mont Mayt offer ideal conditions for making your first turns on the piste. Advanced skiers, on the other hand, can aim high. They benefit from pistes at altitudes of 1,660 m to 2,750 m. The descent from Pic de Chabrieres (2,746 m) or Col de Crevoux (2,530 m) are particularly popular, which experts can conquer in carving style or with short turns. Freeride fans will love the terrain around L'Eyssina. Snowboarders will also find several fun parks spread across the ski area.
Speed lovers can look forward to the "Les Vautours" high-speed run with a gradient of up to 98% and a speed record of 255.5 km/h, while freestylers can let off steam in the seven Snowparks. The youngest winter sports enthusiasts are given the perfect introduction to skiing and snowboarding in fascinating children's landscapes. Modern lifts take winter sports enthusiasts to the daily groomed and sun-kissed pistes, which offer optimal snow conditions thanks to the dry climate.
Night skiing Vars
There is a small family-friendly night skiing area in the Vars ski area: the popular night skiing takes place at the Ecrins T-bar lift in the Vars les Claux district during the French school holidays. The exact dates can be found on the ski area operator's website.Après ski Vars
The cinema in Vars also ensures an entertaining evening for the whole family. Night owls will get their money's worth at the local discotheque.
Winter holidaymakers who like it a little more lively will be welcomed by selected bars and après ski clubs, while those seeking peace and quiet can relax in sauna areas and with massages. There are also two natural toboggan runs in Risoul as well as the Luge Dévale toboggan run, where piste racers hurtle down the mountain on rails. These provide plenty of fun for the whole family. Dog sledding, ice skating and winter hiking are just three other activities that make the off-piste programme in Risoul a unique winter experience.
The varied leisure programme ensures sporting fun away from the pistes too: whether it's paragliding, a game of squash or a round on the ice rink - everyone can let off steam to their heart's content here. A dog sled ride, a snowshoe hiking tour through the beautiful forest landscape or a round of ice climbing also promise a very special experience.
Snowpark: Vars Park Vars
The "Vars" area turns out to be a true funpark paradise and boasts four different Snowparks. The "Vars Park" is divided into four different fun zones. In addition to the "Kid Park" and the "Girly Park", where younger skiers can hone their skills on pink boxes, the other two zones also offer real highlights.
A top location for capturing your styles and jumps is the "Totem Park". It resembles an Indian village, with rails and wooden totem poles waiting to be photographed in impressive style. The great fun on offer in Vars is rounded off by the 8-hectare "Park de l'Eyssina", located at an altitude of 2,400 metres. There is also a boardercross course for those who want to battle it out in a direct duel.
If that's not enough, you can still let off steam in Waouland, the Snowpark in Risoul. The Snowpark offers around 30 obstacles for every level - including various rails and boxes as well as the most popular obstacle - the whale. The fun park is also the perfect place to relax after a long day's work in the chill zone with laid-back music and a juicy BBQ!
