Ski area Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski

With the "Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski" lift pass, you have access to 250 km of piste around the famous Alpe d'Huez, of which extends along the south/southwestern side of the Massif des Grandes Rousses. The pistes lie between 1,125 - 3,330 m altitude and are connected via 71 lifts. What's more is that Alpe d'Huez counts as especially snow-sure: 80% of the pistes lie above 1,800 m altitude, among which include the glacier pistes on the Pic Blanc.

The southeastern part of the ski area makes up the "Domaine d'Auris" above Auris. The piste areal on the Col de Maronne (1,697 m) and the Signal de'l Homme (2,176 m) makes up about 45 km of piste. of the 24 pistes, five are green, nine are blue, eight are red and two are black. At the valley station in Auris, a large children's area can be found with a covered magic carpet, and freeriders will find several open slopes up on the Signal de L'Homme, spread out along a sunny plateau. With the Alp-Auris chair lift, winter sports fans can seamlessly make their way from the end of the "Les Demoiselles" blue piste over to Alpe d'Huez.

Several highlights await winter sports fans in the Alpe d'Huez ski area. For example, one of the longest pistes in the world can be found here: the black "La Sarenne" starts high up on the Sarenne Glacier and runs over 16 km along the front side of the Pic Blanc and down to the valley station. The lower region flattens out into a blue run. The 3 km long, black, steep run "Le Tunnel" is reserved for real experts only, taking skiers from the Pic Blanc through a tunnel and out onto a mogul piste. The red pistes up on the "Dôme des Petits Rousses" are not as tricky, but are still rather demanding and offer a breaktaking view of the surrounding landscapes and valleys.

Beginners will find the perfect practice slopes on the resort edge of Huez and Vaujany. Freestylers are also optimally tended to: The large snow park at the DMC 1 chair lift is a great place for freestyle experts, and the "Montfrais" fun park is much easier and is designed for beginners looking to test out their first tricks. Another "fun-areal" is "Marcel's Farm", located at the Signal lift, of which was transformed into a combination lift composed of 8-person chair lifts and gondolas. The obstacle course offers a boardercross with freestyle obstacles, a small half-pipe and a slalom course.

Night skiing Auris

Just like in the rest of the Alps night skiing is a huge trend in France - and it is also available in a ski area as large as Alpe d'Huez. Skiing by night takes place several times per week directly at the edge of Huez. Here, an approx. 1 km piste is illuminated at the slalom slope. The Le Signal combilift offers extended operation hours several time per week, during the holidays. With several days' lift passes, night skiing is for free.

Snowpark: Snowpark Alpe d'Huez Auris

Freestylers can choose between two snowparks in the Alpe d'Huez ski area. The large "Snowpark Alpe d'Huez" is placed centrally in the ski area, surrounded by green pistes suitable for beginners. The DMC 1 chairlift leads to the park's starting point which has four different lines. Divided into different levels of difficulty from easy (green) to difficult (black), the lines pass numerous obstacles. The areas offers varieties from rails to kickers, as well as three Big-Air lines with monster kickers for professionals. A 50 m run-up ends in a jump that vaults you onto a bag jump. A half-pipe is also shaped in good snow conditions.

The second snowpark Montfrais offers moderate jumps, boxes and rails for beginners. The beginner-friendly area is located above Monfrais (1,650 m) in the lower area of pistes on mount L'Alpette (2,050 m). The starting point of the funpark can be reached by the Montfrais chairlift and the blue piste "Myrtilles".

Both parks offer automated video service. Cameras film the run on the line, so that you can watch yourself on a large screen and download the video to your smart phone. Furthermore the parks are equipped with snow-making systems, and shapers make sure the snow conditions are ideal on a daily basis.
