Mariánské Lázně
The spa town Mariánské Lázně is located close to the German border in the so-called "Bohemian spa triangle" with Karlsbad and Franzensbad. The spa town was founded at the beginning of the 19th century when iron-rich healing springs were discovered. Many celebrities, such as Goethe, Wagner, Kafka, Chopin or Mark Twain, have since visited this marvellous town with its thermal baths and imposing buildings. More than 40 mineral springs have their source within the city area alone - perfect conditions to take advantage of spa treatments. This has made Mariánské Lázně become the second largest spa town in the Czech Republic. An architectural highlight is provided with the spa colonnade with its cast-iron constructions. The "singing fountain" in the spa park is a real tourist attraction as it presents a water show accompanied by music which draws many visitors especially in the evening.At the edge of the town, a small ski area can be found, which is ideal for pleasure skiers as well as families with children. The town borders the Kaiser Forest, which provides plenty of possibilities for winter hikes and cross-country skiing. In Mariánské Lázně, a relaxing holiday with a mix of culture, nature and winter sports awaits.
