Ski holidays St. Stefan in the Lavant Valley - A quiet hamlet in Wolfsberg!

St. Stefan in the Lavant Valley

In the very east of Carinthia lie several charming villages in the 64 km long Lavant Valley between the two mountains Koralpe and Saualpe. One of them is the cosy St. Stefan in the Lavant Valley of the municipality Wolfsberg. The hamlet St. Stefan is situated only about 3 km away from the town centre, thus it is a very quiet place - most of the touristic activity takes place in the town - but still well-connected to the infrastructure of Wolfsberg.

Several sights, historic buildings and the 850 years old castle are a reminder that already in the Middle Ages Wolfsberg was of great importance. The town has many shops and a broad range of sports and recreational activities to offer: ice skating, snow shoe hiking, climbing in a climbing hall, as well as action sports like bungee jumping and paragliding. After a car ride of approx. 20 minutes you can reach the Koralpe where you will find several hiking trails leading up the distinctive rise, as well as the valley station of the ski area Koralpe.

Lavant Valley

In the east of Carinthia flows the Lavant river, which gives the extensive Lavant Valley its name. The valley is considered one of the most appealing and sunny areas in the south of Austria and lives up to its nickname "Paradise of Carinthia". The idyllic municipalities of Wolfsberg, Sankt Andrä and Bad Sankt Leonhard form the main municipalities along the valley with about 60,000 local inhabitants. Embedded in between the two local mountains Koralpe and Saualpe the lower Lavant Valley offers various recreational activities. In winter you can look forward to a diverse sports holiday in the ski areas Koralpe, Großer Speikkogel (the highest mountain of the region at 2,140 m), Klippitztörl, Weinebene and Hebalm.
