Ski area Dachstein West
The majority of the pistes in the ski area are easy to moderately difficult to ski. This makes Dachstein West particularly attractive for families with children and beginners who can try out the 57 blue and 95 red kilometres of pistes. The wide and well-developed downhill runs are ideal for learning the first turns. The little skiers are also supported and looked after in one of the ski kindergartens and clubs. Fuxi's children's club is located directly at the valley station of the Donnerkogelbahn lift, where children from one year of age are looked after. Here the youngest amongst the winter sports enthusiasts learn to ski playfully with the guidance of professional ski instructors. Mascot Fuxi makes sure that the fun is not left out.
Advanced skiers and snowboarders have the opportunity to prove their technique on the eight black kilometres of pistes. If you are fit enough, you should also plan the Panoronda ski safari. The Panoronda route is 44 kilometres long and - as the name suggests - impresses with breathtaking panoramic views. The numerous rustic huts in the ski area are a great place to take a breath.
Freestylers can present their latest tricks on kickers, rails and boxes in the four fun parks of the ski resort. The Dachstein West Snowpark is the largest and should definitely be visited by freestyle lovers. Besides the snowparks there are 14 so-called Gaudipisten. Gaudipisten are pistes on which beginners and advanced skiers can face different challenges. Slalom runs with timekeeping, mogul slopes and snowcross tracks are examples of the fun-packed Gaudipisten that provide plenty of variety and, of course, a lot of fun.

Snow lovers who, after an exciting day in the Dachstein West ski area, still didn't get enough fun on the pistes can count themselves lucky. Once a week there is the possibility to ski down the pistes of the ski area at a late hour. For this purpose, the lower part of the pistes of the valley descent at the Ötscher lift is illuminated by floodlights, so that nothing stands in the way of night-time fun on the pistes. The downhill run is approx. 1 km long and marked red, so that beginners, as well as advanced winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy it. A following visit to the Hornspitz umbrella bar rounds off the evening. Close to the valley station of the Hornspitz bar is the Brumsiland practice piste, which can also be used once a week at a late hour. Skiers and snowboarders, who have never stood on their boards after dark, should definitely try this. But also away from the pistes there are many possibilities to make the day varied and exciting. Families with children should pack their sledges, as there is a natural toboggan run in the village that guarantees fun for the whole family. After a 30-minute winter hike, you can get refreshed on the Buttermilchalm before descending into the valley. The toboggan run is open all day and even illuminated until 23:00. Further toboggan runs are located at the snack stations Höllenallm, Halmgut and Sittleralm. In addition, adventurous snow lovers can enjoy snow tubing on inflatable tyres on an approx. 350 m long snow canal down the valley.
Nature lovers will also find what they are looking for in St. Martin am Tennengebirge. The picturesque landscape and breathtaking mountain scenery make wonderful winter hikes and walks possible. Numerous restaurants and pubs invite you to eat and drink, and captivate you with culinary delicacies from the region.
Snowpark: Snowpark Dachstein West St. Martin am Tennengebirge
Dachstein West offers a multi-facetted snowpark program that makes the hearts of freestylers beat faster. Four snowparks await adventurous winter sports enthusiasts with kickers, rails, boxes and obstacles for all levels of ability. Experienced freestylers who are willing to take risks will find the desired kick in the Dachstein West snowpark. In addition to various medium kickers, a wallride and a jib box, there is also a pro kicker with a 10 m table. Also beginners have the possibility to go wild in the snowpark Dachstein West, since there are also some beginner elements to be found in the park. Professional shapers provide optimal conditions on kickers and obstacles every day.
Winter sports enthusiasts who are at the beginning of their freestyle careers have the opportunity to switch to the other three snowparks. In the "Playground Snowpark" in Gosau, the "Youngsters Freestyle Park" in Annaberg and the "Rookie Park" in Russbach you can expect small waves, steep curves, jumps, boxes and rails.
