Ski holidays Riezlern – idyllic holiday at the foot of the Fellhorn!

Riezlern

At the entrance of the Kleinwalsertal, just a few kilometres away from the German border, lies the village of Riezlern (1,086 m). The village is dominated by the peaks of the Fellhorn (2,038 m) and the Kanzelwand (2,058 m) mountains, which are home to the same-name, two-country ski area of which provides connection to the German municipality of Oberstdorf. Riezlern is the main resort of the valley and stretches out along the length of the Breitach river. Besides the idyllic landscape and tranquil village complete with a parish church, the resort also offers a diverse, entertaining leisure programme - from peaceful walks through the spa park to thrilling nights at the casino., and let's not forget the winter sports programme of skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, snowshoe hiking or ski touring. The Kanzelwand cable car begins directly in Riezlern and comfortably brings winter sports fans up into the ski area. Families, active holiday-goers and peace seekers will all be sure to enjoy a satisfying holiday here.

Kleinwalsertal

Along the northern rim of the Alps, in Vorarlberg, lies the Kleinwalsertal, also known as the Kleines Walsertal (small Walser valley). This high-alpine valley reaches up to 1,250 m altitude and is surrounded by the mountain ranges of the Allgäu Alps. The enclosed geographical location, makes this area only accessible via the German side of the border, via Oberstdorf. The Walserschanze is the naturals border line between Austria and Germany and the only way into the valley. Towards the south, the valley is enclosed by the Große Widderstein (2,533 m), among other peaks, which form the border to the Vorarlberger Land.

Along the spacious valley basin, the resorts Riezlern, Hirschegg, Mittelberg and Baad can be found. The idyllic villages are the perfect starting point for extensive mountain sports and excursions into the wonderful nature. Winter sports fans will find a great selection of pistes in a total of 4 skiing mountains, in both countries. This mountains include e.g. the Hohe Ifen (2,229 m) as well as the Fellhorn and Kanzelwand on the other side of the border.
