Ski holidays Mittelberg - Two countries and a real treat for skiers!
Mittelberg
Kleinwalsertal is a geographical peculiarity: it can only be reached by car from Oberstdorf in Germany, yet this beautiful high mountain valley is part of Austria. Mittelberg, situated at 1,200 metres above sea level, is the penultimate municipality in the valley. The village is dominated by the parish church of St Jodok, which is located at the highest point of Mittelberg and whose church tower is the oldest in the entire valley. The leisure activities on offer in Kleinwalsertal are impressive: You can enjoy unspoilt nature on a variety of cleared winter hiking trails. There is also a tennis centre with indoor courts and bowling alleys. Those who simply want to relax will also find plenty of opportunities to do so inside and outside the hotel facilities.Kleinwalsertal
Along the northern rim of the Alps, in Vorarlberg, lies the Kleinwalsertal, also known as the Kleines Walsertal (small Walser valley). This high-alpine valley reaches up to 1,250 m altitude and is surrounded by the mountain ranges of the Allgäu Alps. The enclosed geographical location, makes this area only accessible via the German side of the border, via Oberstdorf. The Walserschanze is the naturals border line between Austria and Germany and the only way into the valley. Towards the south, the valley is enclosed by the Große Widderstein (2,533 m), among other peaks, which form the border to the Vorarlberger Land.Along the spacious valley basin, the resorts Riezlern, Hirschegg, Mittelberg and Baad can be found. The idyllic villages are the perfect starting point for extensive mountain sports and excursions into the wonderful nature. Winter sports fans will find a great selection of pistes in a total of 4 skiing mountains, in both countries. This mountains include e.g. the Hohe Ifen (2,229 m) as well as the Fellhorn and Kanzelwand on the other side of the border.
