Ski area Ski region Kühtai - Hochoetz
In the "Skiregion Kühtai - Hochoetz" you have access to both ski areas Hochoetz and Kühtai, with a total of 84 km of piste (incl. ski routes). Access to the nearest located ski area Hochoetz is approx. 22 km away, in Sautens. 36 km of piste wind through pretty forest areas and provide an impressive backdrop. Mostly blue and red piste can be found here and these are accessible via 28 lifts. Due to the manageable size, this area is especially suited for families. A really great run from Brunnenkopf leads all the way down to Ochsengarten, and with its length of 5 km and a difference in altitude of 610 m, it's the longest run there. A permanent, public race track is also available for speed demons.
Children can burn off energy in the Hocheotz children's area and test their skills at the children's obstacle course "Auf den Spuren der Wildtiere" (German for "on the tracks of wild animals").
The ski area Oetz/Hochoetz is especially popular due to its family-friendliness, which includes child-care facilities for children from 2 years in the Kindergarten and the 3 ski schools, as well as the "Happy Family Weeks", in which there are special reductions on offer.
For more fun in the snow, you can explore the 9 ski areas of the massive "Olympia Skiwelt" with a total of 300 km of piste. Guests staying in Mieming can easily access these areas via the free ski and hiking busses.
Night skiing Mieming
There are numerous night ski areas in Austria where winter sports fans can go skiing on illuminated pistes after the lifts' regular opening hours. From Mieming, the nearest night ski piste can be found in the Kühtai ski area. Every Wednesday and Saturday, the lifts Hochalterbahn and Startbahn are open for night skiing from 19:30 - 22:00. The approx. 2.6 km piste is even illuminated for skiing by night time until 23:30. For a cozy break in between or after night skiing, the mountain house "Zum Kaiser Maximilian" is also open until 24:00. Owners of a valid season's lift pass can go night skiing for free. Within only approx. 10 minutes you can easily access the neighbouring resort Telfs, where you can enjoy some indoor fun activities in the sports centre - especially recommendable when the weather is not so good. There is an ice rink available here, skittles, squash and tennis courts, climbing wall in the triple section gym, and there is also restaurant for gathering energy. The complex also includes an indoor pool with sauna area and a solarium.
In Mieming there is a number of Schnapps distilleries which can be visited. Explore the Tyrolean tradition of spirit creation on the "Tyrolean Schnaps-Route". Tours of the distilleries give interesting insight into the process and you can be sure to enjoy the one or the other tasting at the end. Numerous restaurants and bars in Ober- and Untermieming are available for enjoying some delicious cuisine.
Snowpark: K-Park Kühtai Mieming
The KPark Kühtai has been an absolute highlight for all freestylers since its redesign in 2018 at the latest! Divided into four areas and with a 6 m high, 160 m long and 21 m wide gigantic halfpipe, the park shines in all its glory. The FreeStyle-Area Kühtai is divided into a kicker line, a hipline and the rail line. Obstacles such as Funtube, Flatrail, Industry, Flatboxes or the Elephant Butter Box were added during the redesign, including a Butter Box with rail, Industry Rainbow, the Waterfall, the Industry Curved, a Down Post Box and others. The park is now also classified as a medium and includes creative, well manageable jumps and obstacles, which attracts freestylers from all over the world and enables regular events. A SnowCross track as well as the KidsPark with round off the park experience for beginners and professionals.
The WIDI Funpark Hochoetz in Balbachtal, situated at 2,100 m above sea level, offers additional fun and awaits you with kickers, boxes, a wave course, a wavy track and a steep curve as well as different rails, which guarantee especially beginners a good introduction to park riding.
