Ski holidays Lingenau – Hilly winter idyll at the Schetteregg!
Lingenau
Lingenau is located at an altitude of 687 m in the predominantly forested landscape south east of the Bodensee. The tranquil village, with approx. 1,466 inhabitants stretches over a wide valley plain and is surrounded by the gently rising hills of the Bregenzerwald. Various smaller ski areas and villages are in the immediate vicinity. Additionally, Bregenz and thus the shore of Germany's largest lake are only about 30 minutes away by car. The many bridges that connect the town in the hilly region with the neighbouring communities are a distinctive characteristic of Lingenau. One of the eight bridges, the Negrelli Bridge, might be best known due to its builder Alois Negrelli, who was also involved in the planning of the Suez Canal. Additionally, the Quelltuffhang (a spring mountainside) near Lingenau is also a fascinating natural monument. For the special limestone formation, the place was chosen by the ORF show (radio station) "9 Orte 9 Schätze" (9 Places 9 Treasures) as one of the nine most beautiful "secret" places in Austria. In and around Lingenau you can experience as many diverse winter activities as your heart desires. Located only a few kilometres away, you can find the family-friendly Alberschwende ski area, here well-maintained pistes, toboggan runs and cross-country ski runs await for the whole family.Bregenzerwald
The Bregenzerwald is located between Lake Constance and the Arlberg in the far west of Austria. The northern part of the region is hilly, towards the south the valley becomes narrower and the mountains rise more steeply. The Bregenzerwald has been strongly influenced by its Swabian and Swiss neighbours and old traditions are still upheld today. A good example of this is the "Cheese Route", an association of farmers, innkeepers, craftsmen and commercial enterprises dedicated to traditional cheese production. So don't miss out on trying the "Bregenzerwald mountain cheese". The region is also renowned for its guaranteed snow: Enjoy over 506 kilometres of pistes and the beautiful panorama of the Bregenzerwald!Travel Lingenau
