Ski holidays Lermoos – prime place in front of the Zugspitz panorama!

Lermoos

In between the Ammergauer Alps and the Wetterstein Massif lies the district of Leermoos at 1,004 m altitude. It is one of the most popular holiday resorts in the Zugspitz region and offers perfect access to the ski areas of the winter sports region Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. Nature enthusiasts will find themselves in the front line for a magnificent panorama view of the Wetterstein Massif, and Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze (2,962 m). The nearly 1,000 year-old resort on the ancient Roman road Via Claudia Augusta, is known as the oldest resort in the area and still plays a large role in the economic stability of the region - today based on tourism. This small resort is called home by ski race pros such as Josef Rieder or Walter Schuster. No wonder, as the Grubigstein ski area is located more or less in front of the door. From hiking trip to toboggan run and night skiing, and even right up to a sociable aprés ski evening, Leermoos has a diverse leisure time and sports programme on offer.

Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena

Gorgeous mountains, traditional villages and a snow-white, enchanting sea of peaks make up the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena. Framed by the Mieminger and Wetterstein mountain chains is the Ehrenwalder basin, where the seven Zugspitz Arena resorts are to be found. Whether skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, ice skating or hiking, pretty much everything is possible in and around the Zugspitz Arena resorts. In addition to sporting activities, the resorts entice visitors on a shopping stroll or in for a snack in a cosy inn. There is snow security through until spring on the Zugspitzplatt in the Zugspitz glacier area. In addition to the Zugspitz, a further 6 ski areas are available. The area also offers many easy to intermediate pistes, making it an ideal family holiday destination.
