Cross-country Kirchdorf

All around Kirchdorf, Oberndorf, Erpfendorf and St. Johan, 252.5 km of well-prepared cross-country trails of all levels of difficulty (127 km of which are classic and 125.5 km of skating style) are available to enjoy. Highly recommended is the high altitude trail Gasteig by Kirchdorf, which runs above the Huberhöhe and Gasteiner hunting lodge towards the toboggan run. At a length of 7 km, demanding trails can be conquered at an altitude of over 300 m. The rich splendour of the Wilder Kaiser can be viewed best from the Kaiserbachtal trail. The 5 km trail along the Kaiserbach certainly has a lot to offer.

A more popular and practical access point for Nordic sports fans is the Koasa stadium, where a cross-country school and equipment hire can be found, as well as changing rooms and showers. Starting out from the stadium is the Hinterkaiser trail, which runs directly along the foot of the Kaiser mountain. With its 13.5 km length as well as its rises and falls, this run is geared towards well-conditioned cross-country skiers. For further cross-country fun, St. Johann has an additional 3 km long, easy-to-manage night trail.

A real highlight for all cross-country fans is the annual "Tiroler Koasalauf" run, where 2,000 participants meet up each year from all corners of the world to take on a distance of up to 50 km of trail.
