Bischofshofen

With its 10,000 inhabitants, Bischofshofen, located in the heart of Salzburger Land, exudes an urban flair while still retaining a village charm. Its central location in Pongau in the shadow of the Hochkönig makes the town the perfect starting point for winter sports enthusiasts who want to explore the ski areas in Maria Alm, Dienten or Mühlbach. The Paul Ausserleitner ski jump in Bischofshofen is also a sporting venue every year. The six churches in the town and the cafés in the town centre are also well worth a visit. It's a great place to stroll and enjoy! The ski jumping metropolis is also perfectly connected by train or the A10 motorway, which limits the journey time to Salzburg, 50 kilometres to the north, to just one hour.

Pongau

The district of St. Johann im Pongau boarders the states of Carinthia, Steiermark, and Upper Austria, and the impressive Salzachtal valley runs right through it. Surrounded by the mountains Hochkönig (2,941 m) and the Hohe Tauer (3,798 m), the region never fails to excite with at atmosphere at once romantic and rustic as well as sporty and thrilling; the resorts are comfy and picturesque and the ski area is phenomenal. Finally, the excellent reputation of St. Johann makes one of the most important access points into the enormous ski world ''Ski Amadé.'' A particular highlight of the massive mountain landscape is the legendary ''Liechtensteinklamm'' which lends itself to the particularly unique mountain scenery found here. Equally or more worth a visit is the National Park Hohe Tauern, spreading past the region in the south - one of the most beautiful natural settings in Europe. There it's almost obligatory to discover the area on a snow-shoe hike or on the cross-country trails.
