The nearby ski area Diedamkopf (approx. 2 km awy from Au) offers a total of 25 km of diverse pistes. This is the ski area with the highest located mountain station in the Bregenzerwald (2,060 m). Especially families like this ski area, due to mostly easy to intermediate pistes. The 300 m² large activity area for children aged 3 to 8 years rounds off the family offers.

But also sporty skiers and boarder can find some terrain here: the 10 km long descent at the Diedamskopf is to be mentioned and recommended here, with a difference in altitude of 1,200 m. Further there are some great freeride areas, as well as the "Pleasure Diedamspark" with rails, boxes, kickers and more, for all freestylers to test their skills. A further highlight is the night skiing and night tobogganing at the Grunholz lift, which takes place twice a week.

If you want to take a break and enjoy the beautiful mountain panorama, you should swing by one of the restaurants with their sun terraces.

Night skiing Au

Winter sports enthusiasts who spend their ski holiday in Au-Schoppernau in Bregenzerwald and who cannot get enough of skiing and snowboarding are drawn to Au in the evening. The Grundholz towlift at the edge of the resort operates an approx. 800 m piste that is illuminated for night skiing twice per week. Every Wednesday and Friday from 19:00 - 22:00 skiing by night-time is possible on the family slope. Apart from night skiing, tobogganing is also possible on the softly declining piste, and sledges can be hired on site. After skiing and tobogganing, the cosy "Lifthüsle" at the lower end of the piste invites you to stay for a hot mulled wine or Jager tea. In good snow conditions, night skiing is possible from December until March every week.

Après ski Au

In the ski area many Gasthäuser, with large sun terraces and snow bars, wait to be discovered. Even after your last descent of the day, the fun continues in the valley. For party-loving skiers and snowboarders the "Ski-Inn" pub is the place to be, with live bands performing on Saturdays. If you want to round off the evening more quietly, many restaurants are available and wait to spoil you with regional and international specialities.

If you’d prefer a more sporty evening, you have the choice of a ride down one of two natural tobogganing runs (a short one for families with children, and a 5 km long one), ice-skating, horse-drawn or dog-sled rides or hikes. In total, Au offers approx. 40 km of winter hiking trails which all maintained and sign-posted. Especially popular are the hikes to the surrounding mountain huts.
