Ski area Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch

With the "Zillertaler Superskipass" you can choose from 542 kilometres of piste in the Zillertal Arena, by the Mayrhofen lifts, in the Ski & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000, the ski area Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch, and in the Wildkogel-Arena at Bramberg. The ski areas are all excellently linked to one another by a free train and bus shuttle (see ski region). Since a few years, the Zillertal Arena offers free-of-charge Wi-Fi in all of its ski areas! In other words, not only can you enjoy the white bliss and the sun, but also share your latest experiences and highlights directly with your loved ones at home.

The ski area Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Speiljoch lies practically also directly on the doorstep! By the connection between Hochfügen and Hochzillertal there are 102 km of diverse pistes and 8 km of ski routes to enjoy, and due to the great location, snow is sure to be found until way into April. The 11 km long valley run to Aschau is a special treat. Here you can pass 1,800 metres of height on the way from Öfelerjoch to Aschau. A shuttle bus goes back to the valley station in Kaltenbach all 15 minutes. There's still some hustle and bustle on the lit valley descend in the evening hours. The Alpine valley is ideal for skiers looking a wide range of options. Since December 2018, the new "Wimbachexpress" 10-person gondola will replace the "Krössbichl" 4-person chair lift. The new mountain station is also home to the exclusive Italian restaurant "Albergo" and is located about 180 m higher, where further runs can be found. In addition, a new peak-to-peak ski area connection from the Hochzillertal-Hochfügen ski area to the Spieljoch is being planned.

Approx. 5 km from Aschau you have direct access to the ski area of the Zillertal – a piste arena with 147 kilometres of perfectly prepared pistes. 52 lift systems take you upwards to 2,500 m altitude easily and quickly. From there you can choose from various diverse descents, such as the black "Abfahrt Nr. 36" in Krummbachtal. Deep powder snow and freerider enthusiasts can explore a number of different areas (e.g. at the Vorkogel).

The highlight in the Zillertal is an excursion to the Hintertux Glacier which is known to be one of the most challenging in the entire Alps due to its size and tricky pistes.

Night skiing Aschau

From Aschau, the next night skiing piste is not far away. In the neighbouring resort Kaltenbach, the valley run from the ski area Hochzillertal-Hochfügen is available for skiing until 22:00. The "Stephan-Eberharter-Goldpiste" is the only illuminated valley run in Zillertal, and it can also be covered in artificial snow. The 2 km red piste leads from the middle station to the valley station of the Hochzillertal gondola. In the main season from January to March, night owls can enjoy night skiing once per week during the extended operation hours.

Additionally, skiing until night time is also possible in Hochfügen. At the Lamark lifts, night skiers can enjoy the floodlit night ski slope as well as a very special event: On several dates the local ski instructors perform a skiing show with light show and a lot of pyrotechnics. With the free ski bus, night skiing fans can easily reach the access to this night skiing area.

Après ski Aschau

After an active day on the piste, Aschau offers the necessary peace and quiet in the evenings to start the next day on the slopes in full strength. Unforgettable impressions of the massive Zillertal mountains can be experienced during a wonderful winter hike and romance is sure to be found during a lovely horse-drawn sleigh ride or torch hike. Or maybe a cosy hut evening with rich Zillertal specialities and music is your way to end the day?

In the evening, toboggan races by torchlight are offered, or perhaps go on a romantic walk by lantern light. You can also spoil yourself in the many restaurants and taverns of the village. A culinary highlight of the ski area Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal are the crystal huts, which can be found in the mountain station Kristall-Express at an altitude of 2,150 m, and offer you young, creative cuisine at attractive prices. Fresh, regional products are served. In the inner huts, you can find an open fireplace as well as quaint parlours, and nice weather providing, a bar-adjacent sun terrace with lounge chairs and water beds can be enjoyed.

Night owls can really enjoy themselves with the various party possibilities in the close-by resort of Mayrhofen!

Snowpark: Snowpark Betterpark Aschau

When in Aschau, you have the opportunity to quickly and easily reach two areas with great freestyle locations. The closest alternative is offered by the Hochzillertal in the "Betterpark Hochzillertal". Three lines with varying degrees of difficulty offer obstacles for beginners, as well as pros. Furthermore, there is a jib line, which only comprises boxes and rails. Pros also have the opportunity to use a 20 m kicker.

Only approx. 5 km away you can access the Zillertal Arena. There you will find three exciting snowparks, which are just awaiting your visit. In Gerlos there is an approx. 30,000 m² Snowpark", in which beginners, intermediate riders, and pros, but also kids will enjoy themselves immensely on the various lines. The next stop is the "Action-Park Kreuzwiese", which is situated in Zell am Ziller. Here you can either practise your newest tricks on the airbag, or you can speed up on the "xDrive SkiMovie" course or the "Speed Check" run. In the so-called Shredschool on the Kreuzwiese, free freestyle workshops are also offered. The third fun park called "Funpark Hochkrimml", located directly under the Filzsteinbahn, offers optimal conditions for beginners and children.
