SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental is one of the largest and most advanced ski areas in Austria. With no less than 284 kilometres of pistes, the ski area is very diverse and there is also plenty to experience off-piste. Whether freestylers, freeriders, beginners or families with children – there is something for everyone here. Nine access points connect the diverse ski area. 1. Modern, large and diverse

SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental has already been honoured by SnowTrex with the “best place to ski” award. It is the largest ski area in Tyrol and the second largest ski area in Austria. The ski resort has also earned the title of “best place to ski”. 284 kilometres of pistes, 90 ascent options at altitudes between 620 m and 1,957 m fulfil the wishes of every winter sports enthusiast. Beginners, families with children, advanced skiers or experts – everyone can enjoy skiing here. The runs are spread over 122 kilometres of blue, 129 kilometres of red and 33 kilometres of black pistes. The ski area also impresses with a particularly high level of snow reliability. A total of 245 kilometres of pistes are covered in snow by around 1,500 snow cannons, ensuring the best conditions even when there is no natural snowfall. If the 284 kilometres of pistes are not enough for a ski lover, there is an upgrade to the “Super Ski Card” ski pass. This gives motivated piste fans the choice between 2,750 kilometres of pistes and 938 lifts in 22 ski regions.

2. Families welcome!

SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental offers ideal conditions for families with children who want to enjoy a unique snow experience. Childcare is available in the ski area for a fee, so that parents can enjoy a few runs on their own in peace. There are 22 ski schools where the youngest winter sports enthusiasts can learn to ski in a fun way. Some of the ski schools also have lovingly designed children’s areas and children’s ski courses are offered for children from the age of 2. There are a total of 122 kilometres of blue pistes where beginners can practise their first turns, while advanced children and teenagers can explore the slopes without their parents. To create a shared skiing experience for the whole family, there are various practice slopes such as the Hexenwiese in Söll or the practice slope in Westendorf. These are located in the valley, are free of charge and are perfect for children to practise on. Particularly noteworthy is the Mini Playground in Westendorf, which is located right next to the practice meadow and guarantees lots of fun for the little ones. The Funslope has hills, small jumps and steep turns and is equipped with various obstacles.

3. Kickers, rails and obstacles in varied snow parks

There are several snow parks in the SkiWelt where pros and beginners are guaranteed to find what they are looking for. The Big Playground can be found in Westendorf at the Gampenkogellift. There is something for all ability levels here. The Söll CRAZY KANGAROO snow park offers two lines. In the medium area, riders will find a flat tube, a tank, a downrail, a kink box, a flat box, a jibcan and many other obstacles. There is even a floodlight system that illuminates the area four times a week. Curious spectators in a chill-out area and freestylers in the snow get their money’s worth here.

4. Skiing at a late hour

Even after the sun has gone down, SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental offers many options for spending a fun time in the snow. There are a total of three places in the ski area where night skiing is possible: Westendorf, Brixen im Thale and Söll. In Westendorf and Brixen im Thale, night skiing is particularly suitable for families with children, as the range of pistes here is not too large and therefore easily manageable. The night skiing offer in Söll, on the other hand, is the largest in Austria. There are ten kilometres of pistes here, which are floodlit so that skiing is also possible late at night. An experience that you won’t forget in a hurry.

5. Huts and restaurants straight out of a picture book

There are numerous cosy huts in the ski area that invite you to stop off and recharge your batteries. Whether restaurants with self-service or rustic huts with waiter service – every snow lover will find what they are looking for here. There are over 80 huts, restaurants and sun terraces in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental. Hotels from the SnowTrex programme, such as the Hotel Der Denggenhof in Söll or the Oberschernthann flats in Hopfgarten, are also located directly on the piste and are perfect for a short break. And even after the last descent, there are plenty of options to round off the day’s skiing in style. Of course, après-ski should not be neglected here. For example, the Sunnseit Hütte on the valley descent to Hopfgarten and the Moonlightbar at the valley station in Söll impress with a great atmosphere and wild parties.

6. Varied winter activities off the piste too

There are a variety of activities that can be undertaken in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental on a ski-free day. One option, for example, is to take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the winter landscape. Either with the whole family or, of course, romantically as a couple, you can enjoy the Alpine panorama and watch the impressive horses. Another highlight of the wide range on offer is the paragliding programme in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental. Brave snow bunnies fly like birds over the breathtaking snowy region. Another activity on offer is ice skating. Ice skating experiences can be created in the open air that you won’t forget in a hurry. There are also five opportunities for curling in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, where winter fans can round off the evenings together.

7. Tobogganing fun for young and old

Tobogganing is another popular activity for spending time in the snow. In the Wilder Kaiser-Brixental ski area, there are many groomed toboggan runs, some of which are floodlit. There is even a moon toboggan run in Söll, where there are four stations depicting the waxing moon, full moon, waning moon and new moon. This is a particularly exciting experience for the little ones among winter sports enthusiasts. This toboggan run is approx. 3.5 kilometres long and is only open at night. The right equipment is also provided and can be hired in many places for a fee. There are no limits to the tobogganing fun here.

8. Winter hiking with a breathtaking panorama

To enjoy the winter panorama without skis, there is a wide range of winter hiking options. Because hiking is not just a great activity for the summer. In the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, active snow fans can look forward to beautiful and idyllic winter hiking trails in addition to the groomed pistes. There is also a special mountain railway ticket, which is valid for 13 panoramic mountain railways. From here, snow lovers can enjoy views of a very special kind. There are various routes on the mountain that offer something for every level.

9. Good accessibility

The ski area extends across the Tyrolean villages of Ellmau, Going, Scheffau, Brixen im Thale, Hopfgarten, Itter, Kelchsau, Westendorf and Söll. The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental is only around one to two hours’ drive from Salzburg, Munich or Innsbruck and is therefore also very easy to reach by plane. There are also train connections to Ellmau, Going, Scheffau, Söll and Itter. There is even a 24-hour transfer service from Kufstein railway station directly to the ski area. The Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental is also easy to reach by car. From the Kufstein Süd and Wörgl Ost motorway exits, it is around ten km to the ski area.

10. Alpine igloo village in Hochbrixen

The Alpeniglu village in Hochbrixen is a very special excursion destination at the Hochbrixen mountain station. It can be reached on skis and is home to an impressive winter world of ice and snow. The village comprises 18 igloos. It is even possible to spend the night in the igloos in the alpine igloo village. There is also an “ICE LAND” ice art exhibition and a bar where drinks are served in ice cups. Every year, international artists create new dreamlike works of art, such as a swan or the Opera House in Sydney – made of ice, of course. There are no limits for the artists here. Depending on the weather, the Igloo Village is open from the end of December until March.
